This last weekend I had a table at a local Vancouver market, the Eastside Flea, where I sold some of my classic beloved items such as Beef Buddy cards, prints, and some exclusive copies of TomatoPotato (all of which are available online in my Etsy shop). I would like to say thank you to everyone who came by, told me how cool my stuff was, and supported the Land of Le Beef.
Maddy's Favourite Toys
Every year I like to draw something special for my daughter's birthday (you might remember last year's illustration featuring Maddy soaring on the back of her Alphapup over a city of blocks). This year I thought it would be fun to create a yearbook page featuring her toys. Just like classmates, some of them will be forgotten immediately, while a select few may be a special part of her life for a long time. I created this print so that she could look back on her toys later on and say, 'I wonder whatever happened to that guy?'.
If your kid has any favourite toys, send me a photo at the Land of Le Beef Etsy shop, and your child can have their own illustrated version.
IB Learner Profile Posters
If you're an IB teacher, then these IB learner profile posters will be right up your alley. I made these for my wife's classroom because wanted a fun way to remind her students of these qualities, and because I like drawing animals.
Can I buy these in your Etsy Shop? Sure, if you want. They are available in two sizes as physical prints, or as digital downloads so that you can print them yourself.
Year of the Monkey
During the 6 years that I lived in Hong Kong, I had the chance to witness a lot of Chinese New Years celebrations (about 6 of them). Anyway, here's my tribute to this year's animal in the Chinese zodiac - the monkey.
I hope you enjoyed these little stories. If you like the Land of Le Beef Blog, you'll love the Land of Le Beef Facebook Page.
Unlikely Animal Friendships
The Land of Le Beef is a wonderful place, where animals can share all kinds of unlikely relationships with each other. Sometimes, the real world can be just as crazy and unexpected. If you have spent any amount of time on this thing called the internet, then chances are that you have seen one or more of these photos floating around of different animals becoming unlikely best friends. Today I would like to share with you, for the first time ever, real life animal friendships together with their Land of Le Beef counterparts...
Deer and Rabbit
Normally in the wild these two species would be mortal enemies, but these particular individuals enjoy rock climbing together, playing scrabble, and discussing the works of Earnest Hemingway.
Kitten and Chick
This team of bandits are a modern day Dukes of Hazzard - always getting caught up in the middle of various escapades. One moment they might be in trouble for brewing moonshine, and another they might be racing down country roads in their 1969 Dodge Charger trying to allude the authorities.
Chimpanzee and White Tiger
These brothers-from-another-mother are inseparable. They are always chasing each other around, wrestling on the grass, and making mojitos. They also enjoy shopping for antiques and selling them on Ebay.
Leopard and Labrador Retriever
Mothers lock up your daughters - these crazy dudes are always out on the prowl, and are irresistible to women. They enjoy good drinks, hearty high-fives, and they always got each other's back. Bros for life.
Dog and Monkey
These two hearty explorers are always off on crazy adventures together, whether it's retracing the steps of the Lewis and Clark expedition, searching for the Lost City of Atlantis, or simply enjoying a weekend of geocaching.
Tiger and Orangutan
This fun-loving duo can often be found hanging out at the mall. They enjoy going to the movies, playing games at the arcade, and sipping on Orange Julius's.
Sheep and Elephant
These two down-to-earth country boys like nothing more than to spend time in the great outdoors. They love relaxing in a grassy field or mud-covered rock, and just sitting back, soaking up the sun, and letting the world go by.
Tiger and Piglets
This stay-at-home tiger mom loves spending time with her "cubs", often doing arts and crafts with them, helping them with their homework, and baking them their favorite food, slop.
